Skims and Dolce & Gabbana are giving stylish new meaning to the phrase la dolce vita.
Their limited-edition collaboration — announced on Thursday, November 14 — is the ultimate in high-low fashion, combining Skims’ affordable shapewear with Dolce & Gabbana’s signature motifs. The lineup includes Skims’ everyday cotton sets rendered in Dolce & Gabbana’s iconic leopard prints, putting a comfort-centric spin on the fashion house’s more-is-more aesthetic.
With lingerie and ready-to-wear starting at $48, the offering is, as Skims put it, “out of an Italian daydream.”
“We’ve taken classic Dolce & Gabbana silhouettes . . . and reimagined them with the incredible fit and comfort that Skims is known for,” Skims cofounder Kim Kardashian said in a statement. “This is a truly iconic partnership that I’m so excited to share with the world.”
The ultra-flattering styles are inspired by both label’s archives, and many come monogrammed with their respective logos. Between the sultry lingerie and silky sleep sets, contouring pajamas and body-hugging corsets, there’s something for everyone and every occasion.
Kardashian, 44, and her sister Kourtney Kardashian star in the new campaign and are photographed strolling arm-in-arm through the streets of Italy wearing (mostly) underwear as outerwear. See the balconette slip and leopard bustier layered with a matching long-sleeve top underneath. Many of the pieces can indeed go from day to night to, well, back to bed again.
Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana explained the collection is “centered on inclusivity and body positivity,” and as such is available in sizes ranging from XXS to 4X.
“Hopefully the collaboration will show D&G in a slightly different light,” Jens Grede, Skims cofounder and CEO, said at The Business of Fashion’s annual Voices event on Thursday. “They have the ability to reach millions of customers at a more accessible price point.”
The Skims x Dolce & Gabbana collection will be available to shop via skims.com on Tuesday, November 19.
