Is This the Next Great Cult Sneaker?

When the Mizuno Wave Prophecy LS was first introduced back in 2020, sneakerheads were taken aback by its futuristic silhouette. Fast forward four whole years, and the shoe—with its tech-y uppers and gap-filled, physics-defying soles—still looks plenty wild, but it’s managed to build a small but committed fanbase. Now, the Japanese sportswear company has unveiled three monochromatic colorways just in time for spring—and they might just be the key to turning the Wave Prophecy into the next big cult sneaker.

Coming in black, white, and a creamy tan that Mizuno calls “Wind Chime,” the Wave Prophecy LS is built upon a ballistic mesh base and is overlaid by leather or suede, depending on which pair you go for. The uppers are encased by a muscular midfoot cage, which’ll hold your feet nicely in place, along with a beefed-up heel counter for additional support.

The real stars of the show, however, are the eye-catching “Infinity Wave Plate” midsoles, designed using extra comfy Pebax and U4icX tech. As with all Mizuno sneaks, they’re finished off with the signature Runbird logo, which swoops across the lateral and medial sidewalls.
