Back in 2023, on his Dave linkup “Our 25th Birthday,” Central Cee dropped the line: “I ain’t puttin’ no suit and tie on, I turned down the Met Gala.” Fast forward to 2025, and there he was at the Met Gala, wearing a suit and tie.
That’s because fashion’s annual big one and fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute follows a clearly laid out theme each year. The exhibition’s theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with the dandy at the core. Basically, you need to suit up—and you need to show up.
Cench got the memo. Up top, he wore a black custom double-breasted jacket which cropped above the waist. Down south, the rapper rocked straight-fitting pleated trousers and polished leather lace-ups. But to really tap into the dandy thing, you need to give your suit some lift. This means accessories which came in the form of a Richard Mille RM 30-01 Declutchable Rotor White Ceramic watch on a camo strap, iced-out rings, and a Guyana flag brooch as a nod to his dad’s heritage.

Sure, Cench’s look isn’t the most out there, but it’s true to theme. This is a guy who famously doesn’t do tailoring, but he broke his own rule to sport a structured double-breasted suit, the kind worn by dandies like Sammy-Davis Jr. in the 1960s. But with a shortened jacket, things instantly look more casual, and way more in Central Cee’s ballpark.
To make things even sicker, this custom look is designed by Jacquemus, a guy that’s known for chopping up the classics and bringing a Euro sense of humor from the south of France. One of his most recent campaigns had a model ironing on a paddle board in the Mediterranean. Enough said. Now, he’s even got Cench, a full-throated suit detractor, wearing that very thing.
And you know what? Central Cee, it suits ya!
