Buck Mason Just Revived Some of the Greatest American Jeans Ever Made

In case it isn’t obvious yet, Buck Mason is enjoying one of menswear’s all-time hot streaks. Thanks to a crop of killer collaborations with insider-favorite names like Bryceland’s, J.Mueser, and Rocky Mountain Featherbed, the LA-based brand has established itself as one of the savviest menswear-whispers in the West.

So what better way to cap off that historic run than with yet another collaboration, this time with the vaunted denim savants at Lee? No better way, in fact—and the fruits of their labor, which officially went live this morning, are proof.

For well over a century, Lee has dedicated itself to perfecting the hallmarks of rough-and-tumble Americana—just-bootcut-enough jeans, hardy snap-front shirts, rugged trucker jackets—reshaping the fashion landscape in the process. Over the years, Lee has outfitted legions of stylish dudes, from real-deal cowboys to chart-topping rockstars. Thanks to the, uh, young bucks at Buck Mason, a whole new generation of slightly nerdier folks (complimentary) is about to cotton on to the brand’s cool.

We’re assured the six-piece assortment is brand new, but it looks like it was choppered in from a defunct workwear provisions store, in the best way possible. In reality, each item was carefully plucked from Lee’s extensive archives, and painstakingly reproduced by the Buck Mason team nearly stitch-for-stitch. It includes Lee’s 101J jackets as well as its 101B jeans, each made in both Japanese loomstate selvedge denim and all-cotton herringbone twill. The true pièce de résistance, though, is a flip on Lee’s iconic 91-B denim jacket, now rendered in Buck Mason’s hand-burnished Rambler suede.

You’ll also find a pair of Japanese-made rayon bandanas festooned with delightful little images of both parties’ factories. And if that wasn’t enough, the dynamic duo has also curated a selection of genuinely vintage Lee jackets to sweeten the deal, sourced from the brand’s particularly coveted period of dominance during the 1940s-’70s.

The entire Buck Mason and Lee collaboration is available in-store and online at Buck Mason and Lee, though we have a nagging suspicion it won’t stick around long.
